England will have full representation on the basketball court at next year’s Commonwealth Games with both the men’s and women’s teams announced to compete.
With the backing of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) both squads will form part of an eight-team preliminary round.
The men will be drawn alongside Australia, Cameroon, Canada, India, New Zealand, Nigeria and Scotland while the women face Australia, Canada, India, Jamaica, Malaysia, Mozambique and New Zealand.
Basketball returns to the Commonwealth Games programme for a second time after making its one and only appearance at the 2006 Melbourne games – where England’s men’s and women’s team both sealed bronze.
Split into two pools of four, nations will face off against teams in their pool during the preliminary rounds held in Townsville and Cairns between 5-10 April.
The finals will then be held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre from 13-15 April.
