The final medals from the diving board will be decided this evening and four English athletes will be looking to finish the 2010 Commonwealth Games with a splash.
Yesterday’s golden pair Tom Daley and Max Brick made it through to the final of the men’s 10m platform at 17.30.
Daley led the field for much of the qualification session, eventually finishing second to Australian Matthew Mitcham with 502.55 after six dives.
“I started off pretty well,” said the 16-year-old from Plymouth. “My first two dives were sharp, I hadn’t scored tens on those two dives for a long time. However, I didn’t go as well in my last three dives.
“I am still in a good position for the final and feel pretty confident.”
Max Brick, Daley’s partner on their gold-winning 10m platform synchro performance yesterday, qualified for the final in fifth place on 443.25.
Members of the City of Leeds Diving Club will proudly note the appearance of two of their number in the women’s 3m springboard final at 16.00. Thirteen-year-old Alicia Blagg and 26-year-old Rebecca Gallantree will dive in their third and fourth finals of these Games.
