Brands presented with unique opportunity to be the Presenting Partner to Team England for first time in 85 years
CGE also appoints Female Sports Group to support commercial activity in journey to the Commonwealth Games
Commonwealth Games England (CGE) has announced a historic opportunity for a brand to be the ‘Presenting Partner’ to Team England.
For the first time in CGE’s 85 year history, the organisation is offering the opportunity for a brand to become the lead partner to England’s highly-successful Commonwealth Games team.
In Glasgow 2014, Team England topped the medal table for the first time in nearly 30 years with 174 medals. Whilst recognising the scale of the challenge, CGE will be aiming to repeat the feat in Australia in 2018, with the support of a ‘Presenting Partner’.
CGE has also announced the appointment of Female Sports Group (FSG) to support its commercial operation and help with the acquisition of partners in the build up to the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in 2018.
The 2018 Games will also feature one of the greatest sporting rivalries; with England and Australia competing against each other across 17 sports on the Gold Coast.
Commonwealth Games England presents a unique opportunity for a brand to align with Team England and support its extensive programme of activity ahead of, during and after the Games.
FSG’s appointment is made shortly after CGE announced former Olympic and Commonwealth champion Denise Lewis as its new President.
Paul Blanchard, Chief Executive at Commonwealth Games England said:
“Team England at the Commonwealth Games is the best, most relevant and positive sports representation of England. Our team is diverse, inclusive, unique and very successful.
"It is a historic move for CGE to offer a brand the opportunity of being the first Presenting Partner of Team England and Female Sports Group is a key appointment for us. Their experience in delivering commercial supporters to sports organisations is strong and they fully understand the value that a partnership with Team England can bring to a brand. We look forward to working together.”
Female Sports Group’s Chief Executive, John Postlethwaite said:
“Team England is a very attractive proposition for companies looking to associate themselves with England’s greatest team. I am confident that brands will recognise the significance of the opportunity to support a truly inclusive team which represents everything that is great about England’s national identity and reflects the growing pride in England and being English.
"Team England is one of the nation’s consistent success stories and in offering, for the first time in its history, presenting rights it provides brands with a very exciting platform to share in this success.”
