Commonwealth Games England is pleased to announce Kukri Sports as its official kit supplier.
Commonwealth Games England (CGE) has signed an agreement with Kukri Sports that will see the international sportswear company supply all England delegation and competition wear for next year’s Commonwealth Games.The contract - signed at St George’s Park, Burton - also sees Kukri producing an exclusive range of replica team products for England fans.
The deal was signed in front of English representatives from each of the Commonwealth Games’ sports by Adam Paker, CGE Chief Executive, and Phil Morris, Kukri’s founder and Group Managing Director.
The agreement between CGE and Kukri comes after months of consultation and research, including the involvement of a panel of athletes who fed into the design process.
In keeping with England’s ‘One Team’ philosophy, the CGE wider team from the nation’s athletes to the sports and support staff will all share the same look and feel.
Dame Kelly Holmes, Commonwealth Games England’s President (right), says:
“I know how important a high quality and bespoke kit is to the athletes and their ultimate performance, and I’m delighted Kukri have met our objectives and risen to the challenge.
“It will be great to see athletes involved in the kit design process, which was certainly a deciding factor in our search for our official kit supplier.”
The One Team philosophy and the ability to include athletes in the kit design process were deciding factors in England’s search for its official kit supplier.
Adam Paker, CGE Chief Executive, confirmed the deal saying:
“Kit is central to our commitment to provide our athletes with the best possible Games experience, and as an English-based company they are very enthusiastic about the project, determined to produce the very best for both our team and our supporters.
“The Commonwealth Games is just 15 months away and we are looking forward to working with a group that is so committed to the needs and success of our team.”
Based in Preston, Lancashire, Kukri has offices across the Commonwealth in Lisburn (Northern Ireland), Auckland (New Zealand), Brisbane (Australia) and Vancouver (Canada). It also operates in Hong Kong (China) where they are a partner of the Premier Rugby Sevens tournament and the Hong Kong Sevens. Worldwide, the company has a team of more than 200 staff.
Kukri supply team wear for more than 76 sports and partner elite English teams including England Netball, London Wasps plus Somerset and Lancashire County Cricket Clubs. In 2008 and 2011 they provided England’s kit for the Commonwealth Youth Games.
