Women's sport has been on an upward trajectory in recent years in terms of visibility, investment and participation.
Birmingham 2022 will be the first ever major multi-sport event to feature more medals for women than for men and we at Team England feel that it is important to highlight these milestones and continue to push women’s sport to reach its full potential.
To celebrate International Women's Day 2022, Team England held a special 'Women In Sport' webinar, hosted by our President, two-time Commonwealth champion: Denise Lewis OBE.
Denise will be joined by four guests from the world of sport:
Alison Oliver MBE - CEO, Youth Sport Trust Katie Sadleir - CEO, Commonwealth Games Federation Pamela Cookey - Sky Sports pundit and 2 x Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Sue Anstiss MBE - CEO, Fearless Women and Co-Founder, Women's Sport Collective
Over 150 people joined in person, or virtually for the a special conversation. Topics discussed were the importance of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and the positive potential impact on women's sport, the impact leaders and role models can have for women in the working world, and the role men can play as part of a progressive movement.
