The 2018 Commonwealth Games are finally here and with 390 Team England athletes ready to compete for team and country on the Gold Coast, we’re all set for an exciting 11 days of competition ahead.
Triathletes Jess Learmonth, Sophie Coldwell and Vicky Holland will be among the first members of Team England in action when they line up for the women’s final in the early hours of tomorrow morning (00:30 BST).
They are soon followed by Team England’s opening ceremony flagbearer Alistair Brownlee, who alongside brother Jonny and Tom Bishop, will seek to defend his Commonwealth title in the men’s triathlon final (04:00 BST).
Max Whitlock, Nile Wilson, James Hall, Courtney Tulloch and Dominick Cunningham will be hoping to bring home England’s first team medal of the games when they compete in the men’s artistic gymnastics team final (08:00 BST).
Elsewhere it promises to be a busy opening day at the Anna Meares Velodrome with the first batch of track cycling medal races taking you through the morning.
Included in these are the men’s and women’s team sprint finals, team pursuit finals and the women’s blind/visually impaired sprint final where Sophie Thornhill & Helen Scott will look to follow up their gold medal success from Glasgow.
And as if that wasn’t enough then Team England’s swimmers will be rounding off the morning at the aquatic centre with James Guy, Aimee Willmott and Eleanor Robinson among those swimming for silverware to close out the day.
