Lawrence Okoye returned to Team England at Glasgow 2026 and followed his silver from four years ago with a bronze in the discus.
Okoye won silver on home soil at Birmingham 2022, the same summer he became the first British discus thrower to win a European medal with bronze in Munich.
It continued Okoye’s record as a trailblazer throughout his career, with the thrower also competing in the NFL as a defensive tackle before returning to athletics in 2019.
As a junior, Okoye balanced a budding career with his prowess in the throwing circle. He ultimately opted for the latter and competed at the London 2012 Olympics.
He has been a regular on the international stage since his return to the sport and has twice broken the British discus record he set before playing American football.
