Charlie Tanfield has gone from young gun to the experienced name in Team England’s men’s endurance squad.
The 29-year-old has been selected for a third Commonwealth Games, having won medals at both Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022.
Tanfield won individual pursuit gold and team pursuit silver on debut in Australia, before adding another team pursuit silver to his collection on home track.
In between those, Tanfield was named as reserve for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics before being elevated into the team, and he then won Olympic silver in the team pursuit at Paris 2024.
Tanfield is a gold medallist at world and European level, having been crowned world champion in 2018 in the team pursuit before a first European gold came in 2024, as he won the team pursuit. He also claimed individual pursuit silver in Apeldoorn to take his European medal haul to seven.
Tanfield competed in football and swimming as well as cycling in his youth, and represented Team England alongside his older brother Harry in 2018.
